The Australian Government announced that from February 21, 2022, international borders will be fully reopened, and all inbound passengers will need to complete two doses of the COVID19 vaccine, or hold a medical exemption. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the reopening of international borders to all remaining visa holders, welcoming The World back to Australia, was another important milestone for Australia. The authorities stressed that those who have not yet completed the vaccination will be required to present a medical exemption certificate for the failure to be vaccinated.
Since March 2020, Australia has implemented epidemic prevention travel restrictions and blocked international borders due to the pandemic. It has only been gradually relaxed recently, including allowing international students, working holiday visa holders and skilled workers return to Australia in December 2021.
